Fondy Results

929e154a-290d-4670-872d-f2e2494be8e9Solid performance all around on Saturday at the Fond Du Lac Community Aquatic Center.

The morning got started with our two newest divers performing in their first 11 dive meet.

Then the afternoon was witness to a bunch of solid performances. Including relay splits, we had 27 season-best times. And some of those were lifetime best swims.  This while we are still a little tired.

Good day of diving and swimming.

2016-2017 Week 9

a7c2e8f3d5c9d8504bc0ad44d44301fcComing off a great week of practice and a very solid performance at the Marquette Invite, we have a great amount of momentum heading into a full week of practice before another big Saturday meet.

After the meet yesterday, a couple conversations with people that circled around how people could get better.  Most of it comes back to how we practice each day. It comes down to if you are reading the set correctly and doing what the set demands.  It comes down to streamlining off each wall. It comes down to not breathing out of turns and using your underwaters properly.

Marquette Invite Results

muhs_ath_2colorWe talked most of the week with an emphasis on Wednesday and Friday about our attention to detail along with the hard work during break paying off.  19 of 22 season-best times would indicate that we are certainly moving the needle in the right direction.

19 of 22 season-best times would indicate that we are certainly moving the needle in the right direction. Along with all three relays being season best times.

But even though we had some strong performances, there is still room for improvement.  And that starts at practice and doing the small things correctly — including proper warm-up, starting and finishing at the wall, breaking out past the flags, as a start.

Monday starts a week 9 and a full week of practice before a Saturday meet.

Picture Day

Picture Day will be Monday in the Pool area around 4:45PM.  This is based on 5 or 6 other teams being ahead of us in the queue.

We will move dryland to start earlier that day so we can have to get to the pictures at 4:45.  You should have your black suit on for that day.

This makes attendance and effort this week during the break so much more important. 15 training sessions between dry land and in the water. It is a daunting task, but it can be done. It is also usually a great week of team bonding as well.

Alumni Meet on Tuesday evening will break things up a bit. But with our next meet not being until Thursday when school resumes, it is imperative that the attention to detail and really being focused on the task at hand critical to the success of the end of the season.

City Meet Results

sticker375x360-u2Quick count shows 26 of the 37 entries were season best times. That must mean we are doing some things right if we are over a 70 percent mark on the day.

It was stated a couple times tonight that we need the same effort in practice that we get on meet days.  This includes at dry land.  The progress we are making will only get bigger and better when we make the sacrifices daily to do the small things correctly.

With 16 water practices and 9 dryland sessions before our next meet, it is imperative that the effort continues to be strong at practice.  The results will follow.

We did a large number of things correctly tonight and we should use this experience as a positive one.
